Plug Research Compilation FREE DOWNLOAD

I came across this compilation a couple days ago and have been listening pretty steadily. Plug Research is a label home for a really diverse array of artists, ranging from Sonnymoon and Bilal to Hawthorne Headhunters (a dope-ass group featuring St. Louis artist Black Spade).
“This is a free compilation that we wanted to share with everyone. All brand new musiccoming out on plug during the spring quarter of 2012. We have been at this for the last 15 years and at some point this year, we will have had our 200th release. This is the year of letting go. Opening the flood gates of Plug Research for all to enjoy all of the wonders we have in our vaults.”
CJ The Cynic “VerbNoun (Vox Test)”

If you’re an Ohio hip-hop head, you may know CJ the Cynic from his work with Weightless Recordings in the early and mid 2000s (his group Drown with Plead the 5th was what drew me to Weightless from the get). If you mess with my music, you may remember him from “City of God” on “The World is Ours” album I dropped a while back. CJ is actually an INCREDIBLY talented producer, emcee, and singer (yup, singer). He’ll be prominently featured on my upcoming EP “Synesthesia: The Yellow Movement”, as well as some upcoming records down the pipeline.
CJ dropped this on my FB page just to get a quick opinion, but I couldn’t stop listening, so I wanted to share it with folks. CJ doesn’t fuck with the blog game heavy at all, as he really doesn’t care much about that shit (lol). I love it.
So Enjoy.
J*Davey “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (Studio and Live Version)

A couple months ago, I stumbled across an amazing live video of J*Davey covering Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” with an amazing twist. It stuck in my head for a long time. Alot of people appearantly weren’t digging it, but I really loved the way they twisted it somewhere unexpected.
Thankfully, the Studio Version has been unleashed (Thanks to Andreas at WellVersed.com for the Post).
Also, catch the live version below
Budden Meets Portishead Remastered + Instrumentals (FREE)
A couple years I released a mash up project between Joe Budden and Portishead. Since Budden is releasing “Mood Muzik 4″ next week, I figured what better time than to Re-Master the record, add an unreleased bonus song and give you the instrumental version as well. Just click my bandcamp link after the jump for the free download.
Illogic “Diabolical Fun” instrumentals

I released this a while back, but never really gave it it’s own post. So alongside “The World is Ours” Instrumentals, here’s another one.
Reason I’m dropping this off now is, we’ve been nominated for a couple Ohio Hip-Hop Awards: Best Album (Illogic’s “Diabolical Fun”), and best Entertainment Company (Voice of Reazon).

Ill Poetic “The World is Ours” Instrumentals (Free Download)

So in continuance of “The World is Ours” Re-Release campaign that I’ve been working on for the Summer, I wanted to release the Instrumentals for this record as a free download. I realized 2 weeks ago that I’ve never even actually made an instrumental version of this record for myself. So I had the pleasure of digging through the original files for this album and getting nostalgic at all the recording sessions. There are even a couple added instruments here and there this time around, since I got to dig fully back into each songs format.
I’m doing all this as a way of preparing for a huge run of projects that I’m in the midst of wrapping up now (including the follow-up to this record). So I promise I’m not stuck in the past, Just catching the past up to the present so i can work on the future. Hope y’all enjoy it. Hope some emcees catch some writing inspiration. Hope some people catch some riding inspiration.
