Interview
FREDDIE GIBBS x MADLIB x GUNS..LOTS OF GUNS “THUGGIN”
A couple nights ago, I had a nightmare that Freddie Gibbs robbed and killed me.
The next day, I saw this video, and realized why.
Funny story:
Illogic and I had a show with Gibbs last Spring, afterI interviewed him for Citybeat a month earlier. Gibbs and I were sitting right next to each other at the Merch Table. Illogic told me I should introduce myself and tell him that I had just interviewed him a few weeks back. Since we just rocked a pretty big show with him, I though “Ok, cool, I can do that.”
So I introduced myself to him. And then he looked at me the same way he looks at the camera in this video. Then I went back to my seat. So that was that.
The End.
Enjoy the video. This song is amazing.
Justin Timberlake Playboy Interview

This is just a really good interview. Always love hearing from this dude, and Playboy always gives really insightful questions. Just a really nice read.
Louis CK New York Mag Article “One Man Show”

“Human kindness has no reward. You should give to others in every way you see. You should expect absolutely nothing from anyone. It should be your goal to love every human you encounter. All human suffering that you’re aware of and continues without your effort to stop it becomes your crime. Humans are always evolving. If you do one thing that if done by every human would destroy the world, that makes you Hitler.’ – Louis CK. Awesome new article. Can’t wait for season 2 of “Louie”

NO BULLSHIT
They say when times get lean, it’s best to reel it in and stick together. Born and raised in post-industrial, Reagan-approved Crack Era Gary, Indiana, Freddie Gibbs gets that. This would explain his grassroots approach to re-inventing a once promising major label-approved career into an independent DIY movement. In 2004, Gibbs signed with Interscope, but not one for the politic game, he grew tired of waiting for Jimmy Iovine to friend him on Facebook, built a team and a sound and began dropping heat himself. Following two underground classic mixtapes, “The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs”, and “Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik” (personal favorite), Gibbs returned in 2010 with “Str8 Killa No Filla” and a co-starring role on XXL’s esteemed “Freshman 10” list. A true representation of recession era hip-hop, Gibbs reels it in and hits the Midwest for a thorough run in promotion of the “Str8 Killa” record. Think back to the classic Midwest and Southern folks we used to watch on Rap City and Yo! MTV Raps in the 90’s. Now fast-forward it 20 years into the future. This is Freddie Gibbs. No Bullshit.
Rare Uncut Dr. Dre Interview from 1997

Taken from the friends over at HipHopSite.com.
I’ve always been a big Dre fan. Even with the premature disappointment of an album that isn’t out yet (“Detox”).
I’m honestly not nearly as interested in “Detox” as I am about that “Planets” instrumental record he’s been talking about for the past couple years.
Regardless, you can’t front on Dre’s status in hip-hop and the importance of his contribution to the last 20 years of music in general. Hit the jump for the all 3 parts of the interview
Rare Mitch Hedberg Interview
Mitch is my personal favorite comedian of all time. My Dad and I have been listening to his stuff for about 8 or 9 years now.
I’ve seen him live a few times, the last being a couple weeks before he passed.
He used to just freestyle his whole sets.
Dude owned stand-up.
I thought I’d seen everything he’d ever done, but this interview is awesome. Back to Back with the Roger interview below, I’m on Cloud Nine.
Parts 2-4 is after the jump.
Enjoy
Ohio Funk Spotlight: Roger Troutman Video Soul Interview
I came up on this interview at like 3 in the morning.
If you’re from Ohio, specifically Dayton (my original hometown), a lot of what he’s saying is really relateable and inspirational. Specifically in part 2, which is after the jump. These are our parents. Crazy.
Atmosphere Interview with Ill Poetic

A couple weeks ago, I was offered the opportunity to interview Slug of Atmosphere for Citybeat.
