Abstract Rude (Rhymesayers)
Abstract Rude is a West Coast veteran of independent and underground hip hop. He like many other rap artists in the LA scene got his start at the Goodlife Cafe. Over time, his distinct voice and vast catalog has kept him working in the music business since the mid 90s releasing groundbreaking albums such as Project Blowed, South Central Thynk Taynk, Mood Pieces, P.a.i.n.t [battleaxe] & Haiku De Tat. As front man of his original group Abstract Tribe Unique (ATU) and collaborator with Freestyle Fellowship members Aceyalone & Myka 9, Abstract Rude has endeared himself to fans worldwide through consistent touring.
Musab (Sab the Artist) (Rhymesayers)
Musab “Sab” Saad began his music career as a hip hop artist named Beyond. He was part of the Headshots crew and then went on to be a co-founder of Indie giant Rhymesayers Entertainment. He is a member of Dyno Spectrum and even went on to release an album with Hiero Imperium. Along the way he has also released 6 solo projects. Now, Sab The Artist is embarking on a new journey. For the last 2 years Sab has been working on his new album HGH (Heaven, Girls, Hell) to be released late 2010.
Ill Poetic
Definition Music will be re-releasing Ill Poetic’s Debut National album “The World is Ours”. Released exclusively alongside the album will be an exclusive remix project entitled “The World is Illuminated” with legendary Ohio Producer/DJ J. Rawls (Black Star, Lone Catalysts). The Project features unreleased songs from the recording sessions of “The World is Ours” as well as exclusive new remixes. “The World is Illuminated” album features J. Rawls as host, as well as Ohio vets Piakhan (Reflection Eternal), Zerostar (Weightless), Jermiside (Tanya Morgan, Lessondary), Zone (Definition), and more.
Ruckus Roboticus
Ruckus has been drawing national praise since the 2008 release of his debut full-length, Playing with Scratches, which charted on the CMJ charts in the Top 10 and also helped him become “in demand” for his remix abilities (he’s done mixes for Bloc Party, Lady Tigra and Vampire Weekend). Ruckus’ inventive collaging of sound returns on the new The Chicks EP, which gets “album release partied” this Friday during the monthly dance party Dip Dip Dive at The Stand in Mount Lookout; he’s joined by resident DJs C. Witzel and Marty Spitfly.
Ruckus is the rare mixologist who manages to be incredibly creative and exploratory while also being remarkably accessible, entertaining and, of course, danceable.
Skratchmatik
The Legendary Dayton DJ Collective has been holding down the Dayton OH Hip-Hop scene for over a decade, both locally and through national acclaim. Come watch some of the flyest turntablism on the planet go down at this event.
